The Job Shoppe selected as Trend Setter on FORTUNE HUNTERS airing January 17th, 2009 @ 6:30 PM on CBC NEWSWORLD.

2009-01-02

Social networking websites, international travel, eco-friendly products – these are some of the hottest business trends right now and hungry entrepreneurs want a piece of the action.  But how? FORTUNE HUNTERS, a new show airing Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. ET (repeats Sundays at 1:30 p.m. ET  and at 4:30 p.m. ET) beginning January 10th, will explore the latest money-making trends and introduce viewers to the people who are cashing in now.

Created by Dianne Buckner, current host of DRAGONS’ DEN and long-time host of CBC NEWS: VENTURE, the program will showcase today’s top business trends and how those trends fit into the global economy, as well as how Canadians could cash in on potential business opportunities right here at home.

Every week the show is divided into three segments: in the first, Buckner introduces a trend for the week and profiles a Canadian company – a Fortune Hunter attempting to cash in on that trend. The second segment features interviews with business trend experts who will analyze the trend of the week and assess its business viability.  Some of our celebrity experts include Kevin O’Leary and Arlene Dickinson from Dragons’ Den.  The final segment – My First Million – profiles celebrities of the business world and their secrets to success.  From the brain behind M&M Meats, to the icon John Sleeman of Sleeman Breweries, these business gurus reveal their struggles to make it to the top and provide tips on how to get there.

In our second episode – HELP WANTED – viewers will meet former beauty queen Meighen Nehme owner of THE JOB SHOPPE INC and watch as she expands her HR recruiting firm from struggling Windsor to thriving London.  DRAGONS’ DEN star Arlene Dickinson and HR veteran Sylvie Hyndman weigh in on the Meighen’s chances for success in a struggling economy. HELP WANTED also profiles the colouful – and wildly successful - founder of Drake International, Bill Pollock.  Tune in on JANUARY 17 for the all the Help Wanted action!

The Job Shoppe makes the 10th Annual PROFIT MAGAZINE W100 Ranking

2008-12-25

The Job Shoppe, a leading human resources firm in Southwestern Ontario, has ranked as the 4th fastest-growing company as part of Profit Magazine’s top W100 Canada.

“To be included with this group of magnificent women is an incredible accomplishment,” said Meighen Nehme, President of The Job Shoppe. “To thrive during a time of economic uncertainty is a true testament to the dedication and commitment of the entire team at The Job Shoppe.”

The PROFIT W100 ranks Canada’s Top Women Entrepreneurs by the annual revenue of their firms and profiles the country’s most successful female business owners. Published in the November issue of PROFIT and online at www.profitmagazine.ca, the PROFIT W100 is Canada’s largest annual celebration of entrepreneurial achievement by women.

“Canada’s Top Women Entrepreneurs are stronger than ever,” said Ian Portsmouth, editor of PROFIT: Your Guide to Business Success. “They’ve continued to grow profitable companies by investing in their people and products while developing new and better ways to do business.”

Nehme, a former runner-up Miss Canada in 2003, believes that programs like the PROFIT W100 are crucial for fostering confidence and self-assurance in Canadian women. “When I set out to start my own business, I hoped that the impression I left with other young women was that anything is possible. And today is clearly an example of that.”
